President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez toured the stands of Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia, El Salvador and China on Tuesday at the first International Import Expo, in Shanghai, where he began his official visit to the Asian country, with a program that includes meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang.

Díaz-Canel exchanged with Cuban exhibitors and also toured booths related to technology and other sectors in the pavilions of the fair, the first that China dedicates to the activity of imports.
In statements published by the EFE agency, Díaz-Canel told the press that the commercial event shows the “interest in facing the pressures and measures of protectionism that are unilaterally taken against free trade.”
“For Cuba,” the president added, “it is an opportunity to present our potential for trade in a market such as China and internationally.”
